Foreclosure Workshop

house in forclosure should I call my lender?
I just called my lender to try and work out a deal after falling behind 4 months on my mortgage. I have attended the famous NACA workshop and have a phone counseling interview Dec 18th. My lender said my house has already gone into foreclosure and they could no longer accept any partial payment. She suggested I put my monthly budget together and call them back. I’m self employed and after doing this, even scraping to the bare minimum I could probably afford half my original mortgage payment right now. The hope is that business will get better soon (good chance) and I could resume my regular payment schedule soon into 2010. Should I call them back or should I wait for NACA’s assistance? on Dec 18th
Interesting you commented that, “My lender said.” Your lender should have given you official notice so you needn’t have to ask.
Did you get the foreclosure letter in the mail? Did you get the letter warning you of foreclosure telling you how much you have to pay to bring your loan current?
Do not wait for NACA. You must talk to your lender. Did you ever try for a loan mod with your lender? Seems that’s what you need. Lenders can be reluctant to help you using the normal catch up plan if you have told them you cannot afford the payment. If you have indicated you cannot afford the payment and you cannot catch up the back payments, then you need a loan mod.
If necessary, as a last resort to save your home, speak to an attorney about filing chapter 13 bankruptcy.
