Am I better off accepting a deed in lieu or going into foreclosure on my rental property?
I was offered a deed in lieu if I pay $15,000. But will I still have to pay taxes on the unpaid balance like it is income?
If you foreclose you still owe the deficit amount, as this is an investment, not your residence.
So, yeah, you are far better off with the deed in lieu.
