Can I collect unemployment checks from California, even though I worked in Texas?
Please don’t judge. My nerves can’t take it and I watch people take advantage of government money day in day out.
I was a teacher that left a gang, crime ridden school in Los Angeles. I got a job as a Reading Specialist in a nice school in Texas. However, the grant ends this year and I will have no job in July. CA unemployment pays me more than working at McDonalds. I still have a CA address. I have not filed as a resident of Texas (I own a condo in CA, even though it is in foreclosure).
I am really sick over this. There aren’t any good paying jobs and I have a Master’s Degree and am going to school at night to get Principal Certification.
Nervous breakdown anyone?
The bill collectors call day in, day out.
The district I work for in Texas is laying off many teachers, so there won’t be a classroom position for me. I can apply, but there will be nothing in California.
I’m getting ready to be homeless this summer and I have two dogs.
You apply in Texas. They’ll coordinate with California on who pays what if you’re, laid off.
