Every time a GOP is elected, an elite in top 2% gets a yacht – true or false?
There are truisms such as Every time a bell rings, an Angel gets their wings, or Every time an economic bubble bursts, a hedge fund manager gets his 1st Billion dollars, or Every time a layoff happens an elite gets a bonus, or Every time a foreclosure occurs, a Banker gets a bonus.
And of course every time someone gets Health-care, the whole GOP gnashes their teeth and writhes in eternal flames.
But is the above question – true or false?
The main function of the G.O.P. is to convince voters that government is wasteful and a threat to freedom so that voters will continue to allow the “free” market, which is of course largely controlled by the wealthiest, to continue to funnel resources away from the majority of us and towards the wealthiest 2% or so.
So, yeah, True – figuratively, if not literally.
This yachts create jobs nonsense is absurd. What creates more jobs, building one $200,000 yacht, or ten $20,000 cars? All other things being equal, a more equitable distribution of wealth is the most efficient distribution to create happiness and power a large economy. Of course wealth disparity has to remain, or else you have no motivation to work and innovate, but the disparity doesn’t have to be crippling like it is today.
