Why are so many DeKalb County residents in Georgia losing their homes or facing foreclosure?
Because they bought their home with a “sub-prime” loan, and now that the interest rate is going up, and taxes are increasing, they can no longer afford the monthly payments. The moral to this story??? ALWAYS get a fixed rate on your mortgage – if the interest rate drops, you can always refinance. The other moral? Don’t buy a house that is beyond your means.
