How do I become licensed and bonded for hauling in California?
I want to start a foreclosure and E-recycling business and the licensing info on the state website doesn’t offer anything for just hauling. They suggest four years as a journeyman and then you can apply for a contractor’s license. I want to start now I have the work experience. Thanks Y! A’s
I will be doing foreclosure cleanups and disposing of furniture and appliances, no hazardous materials or paint just house stuff.
Wow. It’s not going to be cheap. Not havign any idea what the things are you’re going to be hauling (and foreclosing, is for real estate, so you can’t haul THAT), you’re going to need to start with a local insurance agent, and your local municipality.
For hauling, you need DOT permits, depending on how far you go, you might need interstate, or intrastate. That will include motor truck cargo filings for your goods, possibly disposal licenses, and of course, workers compensation and commercial auto insurance for your employees and vehicles. Budget $25,000 for insurance/licensing costs.
