Anchorage Foreclosures
Anyone have any thoughts on Alaska’s real estate market?
I don’t think the foreclosure problem has hit this area as much as other areas in the lower 48. Curious to hear from other investor/home owners on their sucesses or failures in purchasing real estate in the Anchorage area.
If you are buying in Anchorage, the price for a starter home is 225-300K. The market here is not good, and it is not bad either. Affordable housing in Anchorage is hard to come by. The foreclosure problem like we had in the mid 1980s’ hasn’t hit, and I don’t think it will either. You can still get good deals on homes up in Palmer/Wasilla, but you’ll be doing the long commute which will cost you 1500 dollars extra (each year) per car in gas! Hope this helps you make a decision.
