Akron Foreclosure
What are my rights as a tenant who’s landlord may be foreclosed upon?
I have been renting the same house in Akron, Ohio for the last three years on an oral, month by month “lease”. She NEVER fixes things that are wrong with the house. Wiring is not up to code, foundation in basement is crumbling etc. Infact she never fixed the roof after that really bad hail storm we had come to think of it. Let’s just call her SLUMLORD “A”, shall we?
Anyway a few days ago, the landlord, who for some reason receives all legal oriented mail at my house , received a letter from a lawyer that according to the envelope specializes in foreclosures. I have attempted to call her MANY times to find out what’s going on and she won’t answer or return my calls. I don’t know what to do. Where can I go or who can I talk to that can give me an answer about this house being in foreclosure? What are my rights, if any? Should I call a lawyer? PLEASE HELP!!!
I love tenants who want to get a lawyer to stay in a place that they claim is falling down around them….and run by a “slumlord”.
Your a month to month tenant. You do not have many rights. You especially do not have the right to be informed of the landlords relationship with her lending institute. You do have the right to receive 30 days notice before you need to vacate…that’s about it.
