how do you find a listing of free foreclosure listing in your local area?
I am interested in learning how to access foreclosure in my area
Check with title companies and see if any of them put together forclosure lists… some of them will send you weekly e-mails of foreclosures and Notice of Defaults (pre-forclosures). Once you get them you can research all about them online with the county records…
This site below will have a map of the country… click on your state… it will load a scroll menu of your counties… click on the one your interested in… it will give you the phone numbers and the weblinks (if your county has them). Ignore the stuff that says you have to pay for this or that… the right weblinks are just weblinks… free direct portals to your county records. You want the recorders office and the assessors and the tax office… with the assessor you can probably search the address from the list you got… and propably even figure out how much they owe on the place and who is the actual owner(s) all sorts of stuff. the tax office will tell you how much taxes are unpaid or what ever. and the recorder will show you the actual documents signed on the house… you can even search by the owners name and find the last few years of mortgages he has taken out and you can get the actual notice of default letter written to him/her or the forclosure letter… etc.
If you have trouble navigating the county sites (cause it sure aint like surfing the web for vidoe games) you can always go down to the actual county courthouse and do all of those things with live documents and with live people able to help you out… though there may be some fees (small ones) involved… and I don’t know how helpful or easy navigating the courthouse is… I’ve only used the online access.
